My cup is full

It happens so slowly I could just bask in it.
It happens so quickly I could easily miss it.

I sit in the silence and stillness holding my cup
and as I wait for it to cool I realise that another, far deeper cup is being filled.
Is being replenished.
Is being restored.

Bearing witness to the dawn of a new day
invokes an old, familiar peace.
An old, familiar silence.
An old, familiar hope
that as all things are made new
So am I.
That as new light floods the morning
So does the promise of joy.
That just as the colours of dawn dance and change across a muted sky
So can I –

I can dance to my own song despite the drudgery.
I can paint my world with colours of vibrance,
colours of new life
colours of freedom
against a vast backdrop of grey.

My cup has cooled
and I sip slowly, savouring the stillness of this moment.
My cup is filled
and I promise to move slowly, savouring the beauty of this day.

  1. Jim Rohn, one of America’s most successful motivational speakers, was in total agreement with your view:
“The difficulties you meet will resolve themselves as you advance.
Proceed, and the light of dawn will shine with increasing clearness
    on your path.”
Indeed, my dear Angelina, make it an absolute intention to meet each dawn as the birth of today, and never the worries of yesterday or the fear of tomorrow.

    1. Uncle Edward, your words are so timely for me and have touched me deeply. I will print them and keep them close. Sending all our love. xx

  2. It’s so good – and ever refreshing – to hear from you again, Angelina.

I love the cadence of your reflection.

    Thank you.
